More about Dance the Circle Round

Traditionally used in communities where dancing was (and still often is) part of every village gathering, circle dance enables us to connect with each other in a moving mandala. We experience the varied music, rhythms and styles of dances from around the world as the circle turns, our feet treading patterns both ancient and modern. Originating within the Findhorn Foundation, where its ability to engender community was first recognised, Stephanie uses this medium to embody concepts and weave together ideas into rich and meaningful tapestries.

The theme of this weekend is an encounter in dance form with the yearning for home, including consideration of displaced peoples, peoples with no homeland wanderers, and the spiritual notion of ‘divine homesickness’. Strands integrated into the mix will include elements of stories and situations from other cultures that enhance our understanding of this longing. Stephanie will lead the group on a meandering path of discovery as you each search for that sense of belonging you associate with ‘coming home’.

Practical Information

Some previous dance experience is necessary to join the group. All dances are taught in easy to learn stages and you don’t need a partner!

Please be prepared to dance either barefoot or in soft shoes, and in loose comfortable clothing.

More details about the weekend, including a program, will be sent out to participants two weeks before the course commences.

“What a fabulous weekend you gave us all. I can't thank you enough for what you created - inspiration meticulously researched and dances which fitted perfectly to enhance the theme. Hawkwood the perfect setting too.”
